Random Access Labs Lightning Tracking

The system is based on a Boltek lightning detector. It's a small antenna unit and a PCI based card for a PC. Additional software from Astrogenic Systems is used to gather data from the receiver and generate the image below every minute. You can click on your browser's refresh button to get the next picture available after the 1 minute update window.

The detector is located in Canastota, NY. I'm going to make the Java based near real time application available to everyone. The Java display runs in a one minute loop with the data packet updated every 60 seconds. This is the closest to a real time display that I can offer online. Please be aware that the distances and headings are only approximate since this is a single detector system. A network of lightning detectors is available through the StrikeStar network.
